  • Clause Typology 2 (וְיַעֲקֹ֗ב תָּקַ֤ע אֶֽת־אָהֳלוֹ֙ בָּהָ֔ר): S-V-O-M
    • The waw is disjunctive marking the clause as providing background information.
  • Clause Typology 3 (וְלָבָ֛ן תָּקַ֥ע אֶת־אֶחָ֖יו בְּהַ֥ר הַגִּלְעָֽד): S-V-M
    • The particle את is the preposition “with” and not the definite direct marker (as in the previous clause).

Verse 26

  • Clause Typology 1 (וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לָבָן֙ לְיַעֲקֹ֔ב מֶ֣ה עָשִׂ֔יתָ וַתִּגְנֹ֖ב אֶת־לְבָבִ֑י וַתְּנַהֵג֙ אֶת־בְּנֹתַ֔י כִּשְׁבֻי֖וֹת חָֽרֶב): V-S-M-O

    • The idiom of “stealing the heart” is understood as deception.
  • Embedded Typology C (וַתְּנַהֵג֙ אֶת־בְּנֹתַ֔י כִּשְׁבֻי֖וֹת חָֽרֶב): V-O-M
    • The preposition כ is used as a comparative.

  • Embedded Typology D (לָ֤מָּה נַחְבֵּ֨אתָ֙ לִבְרֹ֔חַ): M-V-M
    • An “a-class” vowel is preserved with the Niphal preformative, possibly under the influence of the following guttural (GKC 63c).
  • Embedded Typology E (וַתִּגְנֹ֖ב אֹתִ֑י): V-O
  • Embedded Typology F (וְלֹא־הִגַּ֣דְתָּ לִּ֔י): V-M
  • Embedded Typology G (וָֽאֲשַׁלֵּחֲךָ֛ בְּשִׂמְחָ֥ה וּבְשִׁרִ֖ים בְּתֹ֥ף וּבְכִנּֽוֹר): V-O-M
    • The final guttural ח takes a hateph patach before the suffixed ending (cf. GKC 65h).
    • The two doublets, בשֹמחה ובשׁרים and בתף ובכנור, are not joined by waw.

Verse 28

  • Embedded Typology H (וְלֹ֣א נְטַשְׁתַּ֔נִי לְנַשֵּׁ֥ק לְבָנַ֖י וְלִבְנֹתָ֑י): V-O-M
