The main reason I doubt the conventional chronology is that it places the Great Pyramid smack dab in the middle of the others, which is scientifically absurd. Until they drop their belief in Khufu's association with it, I don't believe they'll be able to make any fruitful progress in explaining it. For now, I prefer to believe it's the monument ("pillar of stone") referred to in Josephus' "Antiquities" 1:2:3. It's the only explanation that makes sense to me, & fits well with Isaiah 19:19. All the other pyramids were poor imitations.
